Great-Grandma Prom Date: Teen Takes 89-Year-Old to Her First Prom

An Ohio high school senior had a great time at his prom earlier this month thanks to his date — his 89-year-old great-grandmother.

Austin Dennison, a student at Parkway High School, decided to ask his grandma Dolores to the dance because she never had a chance to go to her senior dance.

"[One of my teachers] told me that his older brother had taken his grandma to the prom," Dennison told The Times Bulletin. "I asked Grandma if she would be my date to the prom and she said that she would be honored. I told her that it would be my privilege. I've been blessed with grandparents and great-grandparents that know as much as they do. They have so many stories to tell. All I have to do is ask."

Dolores Dennison, who said she doesn’t get to see her great-grandson that often, was thrilled to be able to attend the prom.

"He said, ‘Grandma, I want you to go to the prom with me,'" she told the newspaper. "I had a bad heart attack and stroke. 'I'm not that good on my feet,' I told him. Finally I said that if I was able to go at that time, I would. He said again, 'Grandma, I want you.'"

The couple had a great time at the dance and even got to share a special moment on the dance floor.

"She is so funny. She was hitting the balloons with her cane," Austin Dennison told The Bulletin. "She is really neat ... When the music started to play, we danced on the floor. They played the Frank Sinatra song, 'I Love the Kisses of Delores.' Her husband [Edward] used to sing that song to her. There was a standing ovation when we came out."

mdas mind; this has to be the sweeetest thing i have ever seen! i love to see real people enjoying family !!! some of us dont have any! LOVE THIS!!!!
